Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information ZOPP collects, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have.
1. Who we are
ZOPP is a multi-category delivery marketplace operating in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia, connecting customers with local markets, shops, restaurants, and producers. ZOPP is operated by [Etherion Technologies] ("ZOPP", "we", "us", or "our"), [registered business address, Addis Abeba, Ethiopia]. This policy applies to the ZOPP consumer mobile app and this website.
2. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of personal information so we can provide the service:
Account information
- Phone number and email address (we use phone and email sign-in only — we do not use third-party social logins such as Google, Facebook, or Apple).
- Name, and, where you provide it, date of birth, gender, and profile photo.
Profile and preferences
- Dietary, cultural, and religious preferences you choose to set — for example allergies, vegetarian preference, halal-only, and Orthodox fasting observance — so we can tailor what we show you.
- Notification and marketing preferences, and saved/preferred vendors.
Addresses and location
- Delivery addresses, including street/district/city, landmarks, contact phone, delivery instructions, and the GPS coordinates you pin.
- Device location, with your permission, to show nearby vendors and enable real-time delivery tracking (see Section 6).
Orders and transactions
- Order history, items, vendors, delivery details, order status, loyalty points, and amounts spent.
Payment information
- Limited payment metadata such as card brand, the last four digits and expiry of a card, mobile-money provider and phone number, and a secure payment token. We do not collect or store your full card number (see Section 5).
Device and technical information
- Push-notification token, device type/platform, and app/usage information used to operate, secure, and improve the service.
3. How we use information
- Create and manage your account and authenticate you (including SMS one-time codes).
- Process and deliver your orders, including sharing necessary details with vendors and delivery drivers.
- Process payments and refunds through our payment partner.
- Show nearby vendors, estimate delivery, and provide real-time order tracking.
- Personalize content based on your stated preferences.
- Send service messages (order updates) and, where you consent, marketing messages.
- Verify age for age-restricted products.
- Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud and abuse, and keep the service secure.
- Comply with legal obligations.
4. How we share information
We share personal information only as needed to run the service:
- Vendors and delivery drivers — the details needed to prepare and deliver your order (such as items, delivery address, and contact information).
- Service providers that process data on our behalf:
- Supabase — secure cloud hosting and database for the app.
- Chapa — payment processing (card and mobile money).
- SMS Ethiopia — delivery of SMS verification codes to Ethiopian networks.
- Google Maps Platform — maps, places, and location features.
- Expo Notifications — delivery of push notifications.
- Legal and safety — where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of ZOPP, our users, or others.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Payment information
Card payments are handled on the secure hosted checkout of our payment partner, Chapa. ZOPP does not receive or store your full card number, CVV, or PIN. We retain only limited, non-sensitive details (such as card brand, last four digits, expiry, and a payment token) to let you reuse a saved method and to support order and refund handling.
6. Location data
With your permission, we use your device location to show nearby vendors and to provide real-time delivery tracking. You can grant or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings; some features (such as accurate delivery and live tracking) may not work without it. You can also enter and pin delivery addresses manually.
7. Age-restricted products
Some products on ZOPP, such as alcohol, are restricted to customers aged 18 or older. To purchase these items you may be asked to verify your age, which can include providing your date of birth and a valid identity document. We use this information solely to confirm eligibility and to comply with applicable laws.
8. Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, then for any additional period required to meet legal, accounting, tax, dispute, or fraud- prevention obligations. When you delete your account, we anonymize or remove your personal information as described in Section 10, except where we must retain certain records (for example, transaction records) to comply with the law.
9. Your rights and choices
Subject to applicable Ethiopian data-protection law, you can:
- Access and update your profile, addresses, and preferences in the app.
- Manage notification and marketing preferences, and opt out of marketing messages.
- Control location and notification permissions in your device settings.
- Request a copy of your data, or ask us to correct or delete it, by contacting us (Section 14).
- Delete your account directly in the app (Section 10).
10. Deleting your account
You can delete your ZOPP account at any time from within the app: go to Profile → Delete Account and confirm. When you do:
- Your profile, saved addresses, saved payment methods, preferences, and reviews are anonymized or removed.
- You are signed out and cannot sign back in with the same phone number or email for 30 days.
- Deletion may be temporarily blocked if you have an active order, a wallet balance, or funds held in escrow — please resolve these first.
If you are unable to use the in-app option, email support@zopp.app and we will assist.
11. Children
ZOPP is not intended for children. You must be old enough to form a binding contract to use the service, and at least 18 to purchase age-restricted products. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; if you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
12. Security
We use technical and organizational measures — including encryption in transit, access controls, and secure cloud infrastructure — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and to respond promptly to any incident.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes may be communicated in the app.
